As part of the many improvements to Edith Wolford Elementary School in Black Forest, Colorado, a new wastewater treatment system was installed during summer, 2004. The site is underlain by clayey soils and sandstone bedrock. Three previously installed drain field upgrades failed to perform. It was decided to treat the school's wastewater to a very high degree to allow for surface discharge under an NPDES Permit. The treated effluent flows through a UV disinfection system before discharge into Kettle Creek.
Summary of System:
Installation Start Up Date:August, 2004
Collection System: Gravity Sewer to Septic Tanks
Design Flow: 11,800GPD
Treatment System:

Dispersal System: Subsurface discharge to Kettle Creek tributary per NPDES Permit.
